Job Description

What is the opportunity?

As a Metadata Management Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining, updating, and executing metadata processes for the Shared Data Management Services (SDMS) across all governing domains. You will utilize Collibra, RBC’s Data Governance platform, while upholding adherence to internal processes and enterprise data standards. By identifying efficiencies in business metadata capture and upholding RBC’s Values and Employee Behaviors, you’ll help drive data integrity and operational excellence.

While familiarity with data governance tools is beneficial, the focus is on process adherence, stakeholder collaboration, and metadata stewardship. Coding, development and advanced technical implementation are not part of the Metadata Management Analyst role.

What will you do?

  • Engage with business stakeholders to collect, update, and maintain metadata in Collibra, ensuring accuracy and alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to foster a shared understanding of metadata practices and governance
  • Develop knowledge and expertise in metadata management, becoming a trusted resource for executing enterprise-wide metadata practices
  • Manage the maintenance and enhancement of the Enterprise Business Glossary and Data Taxonomy in Collibra
  • Maintain a level of proficiency in metadata standards, tools and processes, including leveraging RBC Assist (AI) for efficient task execution
  • Support the documentation and refinement of metadata management processes and procedures
  • Partner with Data management Offices (DMO’s) and Shared Data Management Services (SDMO) teams to harmonize metadata standards and best practices

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • 1-2 years of experience in an operational or data-centric environment
  • Foundational knowledge of metadata management principles and their application to policies/procedures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and simplify complex concepts
  • Meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Self-motivation to work independently while meeting short-term goals under general oversight

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with Data Governance frameworks and enterprise metadata management platforms
  • Experience with data manipulation and tools (e.g., SQL, Python) or visualization software (e.g., Tableau, PowerPoint)
  • Exposure to AI-driven productivity tools

What’s in it for you?

We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.

  • A comprehensive Total Rewards Program including bonuses and flexible benefits, competitive compensation, commissions, and stock where applicable
  • Leaders who support your development through coaching and managing opportunities
  • Ability to make a difference and lasting impact
  • Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team
  • A world-class training program in financial services
  • Flexible work/life balance options
  • Opportunities to do challenging work
  • Opportunities to take on progressively greater accountabilities
