Ascentra Veterinary Dentistry & Oral Surgery is a specialty referral hospital in Newmarket focused exclusively on advanced dentistry and oral surgery, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. We are looking for a full time ACA to join our dynamic team! We’re looking for an experienced ACA who thrives in a fast-paced environment, values precision, and genuinely enjoys guiding clients through complex cases with empathy and confidence.
We also share our location with our sister company, Transcend Veterinary Continuing Education. We are dedicated to advancing practical dental skills through hands-on and online training for veterinary teams.
What You’ll Do
Animal Care Assistant (ACA)
- Assist with patient handling, restraint, and peri-operative care
- Prepare patients for dentistry and oral surgery procedures
- Prepare surgical suites, including instruments and necessary materials, before procedures
- Support the surgical team with efficiency and organization
- Maintain strict sterile technique and uphold surgical asepsis standards, assisting the veterinary team
- Maintain a clean, well-stocked, and well-run treatment area
- Prepare and set up surgical suites, instruments, and materials prior to procedures
- Assist with patient preparation and recovery under veterinary supervision
- Ensure all surgical areas are thoroughly cleaned, disinfected, organized, and ready for all daily procedures.
- Experience in processing and sterilizing a large amount of dental equipment and handpieces
- Complete end-of-day cleaning tasks, including disinfecting ORs, vacuuming, mopping, and disposing of garbage.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 2 years experience in a veterinary hospital or referral setting (required)
- Completion of an Animal Care Program considered an asset
- Strong understanding of clinic flow, terminology, and patient care
- Confident communicator—especially with emotional or complex cases
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, referral-based environment
- A team player who takes initiative and pride in their work

Experience:
- ACA: 2 years (required)
