Seeking a lawyer to join a growing practice focused on family and estate law. Candidates with family or estate experience are preferred, while lawyers from other practice areas with a strong interest in developing these skills are also considered.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with clients, witnesses, experts, and opposing counsel
  • Conduct legal research and analyze legislation and case law
  • Review evidence and case files to identify key legal issues and develop strategies
  • Draft agreements, pleadings, and other court documents
  • Assist with negotiations, meetings, case preparation, and case management
  • Attend court hearings and support senior counsel on active matters
  • Manage files, deadlines, and ongoing legal projects
  • Develop negotiation and mediation skills while independently handling matters

Qualifications

  • LLB/JD and called to the Bar of British Columbia
  • 3+ years of call
  • Family and/or estate law experience is an asset
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and argument-development skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project-management abilities
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage competing deadlines
  • Willingness to appear in court and develop advocacy skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team
  • Proactive, self-motivated, adaptable, and willing to learn
  • Strong client-service and interpersonal skills
