The Contribution You Will Bring To This Role

The Assistant Controller position assists in preparing financial statements that follow all regulatory and accounting guidelines under the supervision of the location Controller. You will be responsible for identifying and preventing discrepancies and helping set up accounting control systems. 

This role will diligently contribute and monitor the accounting and financial processes of the company and maintain the standards to ensure accurate financial reporting and control. You will report to the Financial Controller. 

An effective Assistant Controller has a good knowledge of accounting principles. You must be organized professionals with a strong attention to detail. You must be reliable and able to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively.

What You Will Do At Justrite

  • Supports most aspects of accounting management (billing, tax forms, reporting, etc.)
  • Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices
  • Assists Controller in preparing financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements and performing financial analytical reviews and audits on a regular basis (monthly)
  • Manage all aspects of the general ledger including journal entries, invoices, and reconcile accounts for the monthly or annual closing
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data  
  • Coordinates weekly and monthly reporting functions with Controller to ensure timely reporting of sales, costs, and projected values for the various entities
  • Compiles data on state and local sales tax filling with various taxing entities on a monthly, quarterly, bi-annually, or annual basis  
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets or forecasts and the annual company audit with attention to required goals, resources and timelines
  • Prepares General Ledger entries by maintaining records and files and by reconciling accounts  
  • Ensure proper internal controls are maintained within the ERP system and within the department and company
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls

Your Skills And Expertise

To ensure your success from day one in this role, Justrite requires the following qualifications at a minimum:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, in Accounting or Finance or relevant field   
  • Minimum of 3 years of financial accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment  
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations and other financial processes such as budgeting, reporting and financial closure
  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills   
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with attention to detail   
  • Ability to manage multiple timelines and work independently
  • Microsoft Office experience with proficiency in Microsoft Excel   
  • Experience in Infor Syteline or similar ERP system a plus but not required  

Compensation

The compensation will be commensurate with experience. Additionally, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan to enhance their overall total compensation package when Justrite Safety Group and their business units achieve annual business and financial targets.
