With locations in Bedford and Halifax, Pete's Frootique & Fine Foods is a specialty food retailer dedicated to providing exceptional products and an unforgettable shopping experience.

As a Bakery & Decadence Clerk, you'll support the Bakery Department Manager in maintaining the highest standards of product quality, presentation, food safety, and customer service.

What You'll Do

• Provide exceptional customer service by welcoming customers, answering questions, and offering product recommendations.
• Assist customers with selecting bakery items and provide product knowledge, including ingredients, flavours, and preparation suggestions.
• Maintain attractive, well-stocked bakery displays that showcase the quality and variety of our products.
• Ensure products are properly handled, packaged, labeled, and presented according to Pete's standards.
• Support inventory rotation, freshness checks, and department organization.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming department.
• Work collaboratively with team members to support daily bakery operations.
• Assist with additional duties as assigned by the Bakery Department Manager.
  
  

What We're Looking For

• Previous customer service experience (1+ years preferred).
• Passion for food and a desire to share that passion with customers.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high-quality standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle challenging situations.
• Positive attitude with confidence, energy, and enthusiasm.
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team.
• Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills.
• Product knowledge and experience with food products is considered an asset.
  
  

Physical Requirements

• This role involves frequent interaction with customers and coworkers in a busy retail environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods while working on the retail floor.
• Regular movement including walking, bending, reaching, and repetitive hand and arm movements.
• Ability to lift and move products weighing approximately 10–40 lbs, with occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures and exposure to common food allergens.
