About The Job

General Description:

The Canada Financial Controller position is responsible for leading a Canada-based Finance team and directing and overseeing matters related to financial reporting and analysis, accounting, internal control execution, treasury and taxation, payroll oversight, and business unit analytical support. This leader will focus on further developing a Finance organization that has a comprehensive understanding of key business drivers while delivering operational excellence.

Job Summary:

The Canada Financial Controller is responsible for managing Finance resources across Canada, including on-site, remote, and hybrid positions, while working collaboratively within the North American and global Finance organizations and coordinating with other associated companies.

This role provides leadership and oversight across financial reporting, accounting operations, treasury, taxation, payroll, inventory accounting and controls, audit coordination, and business unit financial analysis. The Canada Financial Controller serves as a trusted financial partner to the business, providing insight and analytical support to guide decision-making while ensuring strong financial governance, accurate reporting, and alignment with North American and DLF Group requirements.

The role is also responsible for continuously improving Finance processes, systems, controls, and capabilities to support the growth, effectiveness, and sustainability of the Canadian business.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

• Lead the Canadian Finance team and oversee accounting, financial reporting, payroll, treasury, taxation, and financial controls.
• Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in alignment with company and DLF Group requirements.
• Maintain strong internal controls, accounting practices, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and analysis in partnership with Finance and business leaders.
• Serve as a trusted financial advisor, providing insights and analysis to support business decisions, performance, and strategic objectives.
• Oversee cash flow, audit coordination, inventory accounting and controls, and other key financial activities.
• Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Product, Operations, Supply Chain, Technology, and other teams to support business priorities.
• Identify and lead improvements to Finance processes, systems, reporting, and tools to increase efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness.
• Support appropriate risk management, compliance, and financial governance across the Canadian organization.
• Lead, coach, and develop the Canadian Finance team while promoting accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and strong business partnership.
• Participate in strategic initiatives and special projects and provide financial leadership and support as business needs evolve.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required to support the needs of the business.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible accounting or finance experience, including experience in a Controller or similar financial leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and audit coordination.
• Strong financial analysis, problem-solving, and business acumen.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop employees.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively partner across functions and levels of the organization.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Proficiency with financial systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA designation.
• Experience within a manufacturing, agriculture, distribution, or similarly complex business environment.
• Experience working within a multi-entity or international organization.
• Experience with ERP systems, financial reporting tools, and process/system improvements.
• Experience partnering with operational and commercial teams to support business decision-making.
  
  

Compensation And Benefits:

DLF Canada Inc. offers a competitive compensation plan with bonus available, benefits that include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, a Group RRSP with company match plan, vacation and paid personal days. The expected salary range for this position is $110,000-$120,000 annually, based on experience.
