Jardeg is recruiting a Ticketed Crane Operator Journeyperson to work with the Suncor Firebag Capital project team on site near Fort McMurray, Alberta. This is a temporary position starting September 09 until October 5, 2026 rotation will be 6 and 1, 12 hours per day. These are fly in / fly out positions with camp accommodations.

Crane operators control and operate cranes to lift, move, and position heavy materials or equipment on construction sites or in industrial settings.

A Crane Operator will be expected to do but are not limited to the following tasks:

Responsibilities

  • Crane Operators manipulate a number of pedals and levers to rotate the crane and raise and lower its boom and one or more load lines.
  • May drive the crane to the job site, rig the machine up (pin the boom and pendant cables and pull the hoist cable in preparation for operation).
  • Conduct pre-operation inspections of cranes and ensure equipment is in good working condition.
  • Follow safety protocols and ensure all work is performed in accordance with Suncor’s safety standards and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with rigging teams, supervisors, and other personnel to coordinate crane operations.
  • Assist in loading and unloading materials from trucks, trailers, and storage areas.
  • Ensure proper rigging and lifting techniques are followed to prevent accidents and damage to equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of crane operations, including maintenance, inspections, and load charts.
  • Adhere to all site-specific environmental and health & safety guidelines.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on cranes as needed.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience operating 100 ton hydraulic mobile crane and under
  • Journeyperson certificate (must be in good standing)
  • CSO (Common Safety Orientation)
  • ESC Approved Fall Protection
  • H2S Awareness via Energy Safety Canada (if no ESC H2S Alive) via Energy Safety Canada
  • Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness Basic and Intermediate via Energy Safety Canada
  • WHMIS 2015
  • Valid Full Class 5 Driver’s License - No restrictions
  • 3 Year’s Driver’s Abstract
  • Satisfactory completion of a Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol Test
