Position Overview:
The Deputy Crew Chief (DCC) performs Elementary, Servicing and Maintenance duties in support of the Main Operating Base (MOB)
What You Will Do:
- Provide supervision to other employees, including task assignment. Lead the crew/section in all facets of aircraft maintenance.
- Provide input to crew shift assignment, aircraft maintenance schedule and selection of aircraft for flight, deployment and assignment of overtime.
- Perform First, Second and Third Level maintenance on aircraft mechanical, structural and electrical systems and components. This will include, but not be limited to, the servicing, inspection, removal, cleaning, repair, installation, adjustment, testing and certification (release) of aircraft mechanical, structural, avionic and electrical systems and components and ground support equipment.
- Perform aircraft release (ARA) when assigned, and trained, qualified and authorized.
- Ramp duties will include, but not be limited to, pre/post flight inspection and support, marshalling, parking, towing, fueling/defueling and installation/removal of required mission equipment and crash and emergency technical response.
- Perform ground runs of engines and auxiliary power units, where trained, qualified and authorised.
- Fly as necessary in support of maintenance, ferry and deployed operations.
- Deploy and work at other main operating bases and/or deploy in support of operations at remote sites, mobile repair parties and ferry flights.
- Work shift work, as required and/or assigned
- Provide on-job-training to other employees.
- Attend training for trade and professional development and for qualification/certification purposes.
- Ensure crew/section members complete all assigned training.
- Remove all debris accumulated by tasks performed and maintain a clean, safe work area. Carry out foreign object debris (FOD) inspections.
- Ensure hangar, shop, stores and office areas are clean and swept.
- Adhere to policies, procedures and directives established by the Company.
- Perform other tasks as may be required from time to time.
What You Will Bring:
- Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems, including, but not limited to, power plant, flight controls, dynamic systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, environmental, basic structures, avionic and power generation and distribution systems.
- Knowledge of Flight Safety reporting procedures.
- Knowledge of the Company Quality Systems procedures.
- Knowledge of corrosion control techniques.
- Capable of reading and interpreting technical documentation such as maintenance manuals, work packages, drawings, blueprints and Standard Plant Procedures.
- Capable of performing Non-destructive Inspection, where trained, qualified and authorized.
- Ability to use standard computer programs and such specialized ones as may be necessary in the performances of the duties.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver s license to operate company vehicles and tow tractors.
- Graduate of a CH149 type maintenance course.
- Graduate of a recognized aircraft maintenance course or apprenticeship program and hold a current Aircraft Maintenance Engineers license or be qualified as an aircraft aviation technician within the Canadian Armed Forces or equivalent commercial experience.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in helicopter maintenance is required, of which 2 has been in a supervisory position.
