Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead a dynamic design team specializing in automatic fire sprinkler systems. This role serves as the primary technical resource for the design team, overseeing the execution of major projects while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the Design team by providing technical guidance and ensuring design quality.
• Review and validate complex technical solutions and establish design best practices.
• Participate in project planning, scheduling, and design coordination.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, installers, and other trades.
• Perform BIM coordination, 3D modeling, and attend interdisciplinary coordination meetings.
• Design automatic fire sprinkler systems in accordance with current codes and standards.
• Prepare detailed design drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, and HydraCAD.
• Review, verify, and revise drawings throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct site visits and field surveys to gather design information.
• Prepare material take-offs and support procurement using HydraList.
• Ensure compliance with fire protection codes, standards, and project specifications.
  
  

Qualifications

• Diploma in Fire Protection Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is an asset.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in fire protection drafting/design.
• Minimum 3 years of leadership or team management experience.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
• Experience with HydraCAD is considered an asset.
• Strong knowledge of fire protection codes and standards related to automatic sprinkler system design.
• Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
