Tsay Keh Dene Nation is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Director of Lands & Resources to
lead our Lands and Resources Department. This is a senior leadership role responsible for
overseeing land stewardship, environmental protection, and resource development within Tsay
Keh Dene traditional territory. The Director will work closely with Chief and Council, Elders,
Knowledge Keepers, community members, government partners, and industry proponents to
ensure that all land and resource decisions reflect our Nation’s values, rights, and long-term
vision.

About the Role
The Director of Lands & Resources provides strategic management and oversight for all land,
natural resource, and environmental files, including forestry, mining, wildlife, water, and
territorial stewardship. This role leads consultation and accommodation processes, ensures
regulatory compliance, and supports sustainable development aligned with Tsay Keh Dene
priorities.
The successful candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, leadership experience, and
cultural understanding to protect and advance the Nation’s lands, rights, and interests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Lands & Resources Department, including staff supervision, departmental
planning, and budget oversight.
  • Manage all land and resource files within Tsay Keh Dene territory, including forestry,
mining, environmental monitoring, and land-use planning.
  • Represent the Nation in consultations, negotiations, and regulatory processes with
government, industry, and partner organizations.
  • Oversee review of permits, environmental assessments, technical documents, and
development proposals.
  • Ensure integration of cultural values, traditional knowledge, and community priorities into
decision-making.
  • Develop departmental policies, procedures, and strategies for stewardship, resource
management, and environmental protection.


  • Prepare reports, briefing notes, presentations, and recommendations for Chief and
Council.
  • Build strong relationships across government, industry, and regional Indigenous Nations.

Qualifications
Education & Experience

  • Degree in Natural Resource Management, Indigenous Governance, Environmental
Science, Forestry, Geography, or related field.
  • Master’s degree considered an asset.
  • Minimum five (5) years experience in resource management, land stewardship, or
environmental leadership roles.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and knowledge of Indigenous rights and
title.
  • Strong knowledge of provincial and federal legislation relating to land and resource

management.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time position based in Tsay Keh Dene or Prince George, with regular travel to
community and field sites.
  • May require extended hours depending on project cycles and community engagement
needs.
