Director, Strategy

Canada Life is seeking a Director, Strategy to join the Workplace Benefits and Retirement (WBR) division. This team operates at the center of the group benefits business, advising senior leaders on complex, high-impact strategic issues.

As a Director, you will support enterprise and business unit strategic planning, lead initiatives that drive growth, and advance key business priorities. You will work closely with partners across functions to shape, align, and execute initiatives that strengthen the division’s market position and drive innovation.

This role reports to the AVP, Strategy, within Canada Life’s Workplace Benefits and Retirement division.

What you will do:

• Lead strategic initiatives
• Lead high-impact strategic initiatives across Canada Life’s WBR business
• Apply structured approaches and analytics to generate clear, actionable recommendations
• Develop and deliver compelling presentations, business cases, and communications
• Support the development and execution of go-to-market strategies for new and existing initiatives
• Identify and evaluate opportunities for growth, including new products, capabilities, and segments
• Build team capability and culture
• Contribute to and foster a high performing, collaborative, and inclusive team environment
• Share knowledge and best practices across the team and organization
  
  

What you will bring:

• 6–10+ years of experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, or a related field
• Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives from problem definition through execution
• recommendations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing materials for and engaging senior stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in financial services, group benefits, retirement, or a related industry
• Track record of influencing senior stakeholders and driving alignment on strategic decisions
• Undergraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering); advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) is an asset
  
  

The base salary for this position is between $114,200 - $164,200 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
