Position Overview

This position provides support to FortisBC’s public DCFC infrastructure, applications to EV infrastructure funding and administration of the CleanBC rebate program with the majority of the duties being coordination and administration.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with contracted Direct Current Fast Charger (DCFC) network operation services including responses to station outages/alarms and dispatch of resources as required;
  • Assist with the design and installation of future DCFC sites.
    • Use station usage and EV adoption rates to coordinate future site locations
    • Maintain liaison with site hosts to ensure location needs are met (e.g. signage, lighting, etc) and/or work with contractors as needed
    • Perform initial review of design packages from contractor for clarity and consistency and for manager sign off prior to communication to stakeholders.
  • Maintain DCFC vendor relationship including equipment and software updates, receiving feedback on product development and coordinating station upgrades when needed
  • Administer provincial rebate programs for charging infrastructure funding (e.g CleanBC)
    • Review rebate applications to ensure criteria is met for issuing of rebates
    • Work with customers through application process
    • Update publicly available program guides as required based on stakeholder (e.g. program owners, manager, etc.) input
    • Respond to rebate related inquiries by program owners for any exceptions
  • Produce regular internal and external reporting using existing data and standards (e.g. rebate program, DCFC usage, etc).
  • Support the end-to-end customer EV experience for the DCFC sites, rebate application process, high-level electrical design questions specific to EVs, general customers inquiries.
  • Assist with peak load mitigation incentive program.
    • Coordinate and communicate with internal stakeholders who are responsible for controlling load
    • Answer customer inquiries regarding load mitigation incentive program
  • Support Fleet department, Project Managers, and other areas as required in EV infrastructure and/or electrification opportunities.
  • Provide support data to various departments (e.g. Regional Planning, Transmission Planning, Distribution Design) for monitoring and assessing grid impacts related to EV adoption for their relative areas.
  • Keep apprised of industry and research developments in EV charging technologies related to transportation electrification. Collect information from day-to-day activities regarding industry developments related to transportation electrification.
  • Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties, which do not affect the rating of the job.

Requirements

  • Education: Completion of Technologist Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Certified or eligible for certification, at the technologist level, by the Applied Sciences Technologists and Technicians of BC (ASTTBC)
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years directly related and relevant experience
  • Basic knowledge of computer systems operation, environment and peripherals. Sound working knowledge of MS Office applications (e.g. SharePoint, Word, Excel, etc) and spreadsheet software in use in the department.
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to multi-task, prioritize and work under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI – Business data analytics is an asset
