Job Description

AECOM is currently seeking an Engineering Intern for a new position expected to start in September 2026. This will be a 4-month term. This position will be based out of our Kitchener, Ontario office

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Prepare civil design calculations and drawings for Roadways, infrastructure, municipal utilities
  • On-Site Civil inspections
  • Design for municipal infrastructure using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation
  • Inspect all phases of construction to ensure that the work is carried out in accordance to specifications regarding material requirements, alignment, grade, finish, compaction, etc.
  • Document the site conditions, equipment, material installations, quantities and the work being performed by the Contractor
  • Confirm that all onsite testing during installation are in conformance with the Contract Specifications
  • Ensures deficiencies are corrected prior to acceptance of the work
  • Ensuring overall data quality and integrity
  • Prepare documentation for design projects and reports
  • Undertake quality control procedures
  • Assures that engineering related issues are promptly relayed to the Project Manager for action and follows up to assure timeliness of resolution efforts
  • Assist Survey Party Chief with field surveys as required

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or similar discipline, and must have completed at least 2 years of study.
  • Candidates who have recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

  • Field experience
  • Bilingual in French and English

  • Relocation is not available for this position.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $18 to $23.
