The Environmental Service Manager leads the Housekeeping, Laundry, and Maintenance departments to ensure the community maintains high standards of cleanliness, safety, and functionality. This role is responsible for quality assurance, risk management, and regulatory compliance while creating a safe and welcoming environment for residents, team members, and visitors. What You Will Be Doing

You will be a welcomed member of the Aspira Management team and impact in the following ways:

  • Oversee the environmental services of the retirement home
  • Plan, coordinate, direct and monitor the effectiveness of all activities within the housekeeping, laundry and maintenance departments
  • Hire, onboard, orient, train, schedule, supervise, and offer feedback/coaching to team members in the environmental service department to uphold Aspira standards
  • Manage departmental budgets, ensuring availability of adequate resources and equipment through budget preparation, maintenance, and hiring of suitable staff as needed
  • Ensure the building, including its equipment, furnishings, and fixtures, is maintained in a clean, sanitary, and well-repaired condition
  • Manage the upkeep of external grounds and supervise the waste management program for the home
  • Ensure that linen and residents' personal clothing are laundered in a timely and efficient manner
  • Assist in the implementation of the fire safety program for the home
  • Manage the quality assurance program for housekeeping, maintenance, and laundry services. Support and engage in quality initiatives by offering input and suggestions for improvement, and reporting feedback to the General Manager
  • Oversee and manage the routine and preventative maintenance program for the home

What You Need To Know

  • Hold a degree or diploma from a post-secondary institution, with relevant background and experience in environmental services
  • Successfully completed Fire Safety planning training for owners and operators as per provincial regulations
  • Possess a background in the building trades, with the ability to read and interpret building prints/drawings considered advantageous
  • Brings two years of supervisory and/or management experience, with a focus on housekeeping, laundry, or maintenance practices
  • You have strong people skills that can guide, motivate and supervise a diverse team while also being able to delegate tasks effectively
  • Can demonstrate patient, understanding, and able to connect with both residents and their families
  • You are able to think quickly, adapt to changing situations, and resolve issues efficiently
  • Possess effective organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks, manage budgets and ensure the smooth operation of the department
  • You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit
  • You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check
