NetAdmins — Saint John, NB
Financial Controller
The Opportunity
NetAdmins has been supporting Maritime businesses since 2007. Based in Saint John, we’re a managed IT services provider with a team of about 16 people — and our clients, many of whom have been with us for years, span many industries . This company was built on a simple belief: small to medium size businesses deserve enterprise-quality IT support and straight answers. That’s how we operate with our clients, and it’s how we operate internally.
We’re looking for a Financial Controller to join us — someone who can own the financial engine of the business, work directly with the President, and bring both the rigour of a strong finance professional and the pragmatism of someone who understands what it takes to run a growing business.
This is a full-scope role. You’ll be expected to get into the transaction detail when it matters — processing, reconciling, understanding what’s happening at the ground level — and equally comfortable stepping back to see the bigger picture, identify where processes can be simplified, and bring recommendations to the President. If you’re someone who finds both of those things satisfying, you’ll thrive here. In a company our size, your work is visible and your voice matters.
What You’ll Own
This is a broad role. On any given week you might be reviewing monthly financials, digging into a cash flow forecast, overseeing payroll, or working through a vendor contract with the President. The variety is real, and so is the ownership.
Financial leadership and reporting
10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, with hands-on background in full-cycle accounting, AP/AR, payroll, and financial reporting. You’ve done budgeting and forecasting, you’re comfortable presenting financial results to a non-finance audience, and you know how to translate numbers into practical recommendations.
A CPA designation is strongly preferred, though we’re open to the right candidate who is actively working toward it. Experience with QuickBooks and BambooHR — or similar platforms — is an asset. A background in professional services or a technology environment would be a natural fit.
Beyond the credentials: you’re someone who takes ownership and follows through. You’re organized and calm under pressure. You handle confidential information with discretion. And you’re genuinely comfortable in a small business environment where priorities shift and not everything comes with a playbook.
What’s In It For You…
We offer competitive compensation commensurate with experience, a comprehensive group benefits package, and genuine flexibility in how this role is structured. Let’s have a conversation and figure it out together.
A Note on Fractional Arrangements
We’re open to a fractional Controller arrangement for the right senior candidate. If you’re an experienced finance professional who does portfolio-based work and can commit consistent time and be meaningfully present in our business, we want to hear from you. Tell us in your cover letter what that could look like.
How To Apply
Send your resume and a short note. Tell us where you are in your career and why this caught your attention.
NetAdmins is an equal opportunity employer. We thank all applicants for their interest; only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
