What this role is all about:

The Foundational Financial Planner provides structured and simplified financial planning and lending support to members with evolving financial needs. This role is accountable for providing documented, easy‑to‑understand financial plans, assessing lending needs, and offering appropriate credit solutions that build confidence, improve financial literacy, and prepare members for comprehensive portfolio‑managed planning. As a sales‑driven role, the Foundational Financial Planner actively drives business growth through a goal‑focused approach and proactive member engagement.

This role is based out of our Park Royal branch in West Vancouver.

What you’ll do:

Financial Planning Delivery & Decision-Making

  • Assess members’ financial situations, including lending needs and determine appropriate planning strategies based on their goals, risk tolerance, and life stage.
  • Make informed decisions on financial planning tools and resources to apply for each member scenario.
  • Document and present simplified financial plans that include clear, prioritized action steps for budgeting, debt management, savings, and advanced investment strategies.


Advisory Support

  • Act as a trusted advisor by guiding members through comprehensive financial concepts and helping them understand the impact of their decisions.
  • Provide personalized recommendations that align with members’ objectives.
  • Support members in implementing action plans by explaining next steps and monitoring progress during follow-up reviews.


Member Engagement & Relationship Building

  • Conduct annual planning reviews and milestone-based updates to ensure plans remain relevant and actionable.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to deepen member engagement through discovery conversations and needs analysis.
  • Encourage members to adopt digital tools and resources to enhance their financial management capabilities.


Collaboration & Referral Management

  • Evaluate when member needs exceed the Foundational Advice tier and make timely, well-documented referrals for complex portfolio management (e.g., Wealth Advisors, Small Business, Commercial Insurance Advisors).
  • Maintain accountability for ensuring referrals are seamless and member experience remains positive.
  • Track referral outcomes and collaborate with partners to ensure holistic financial solutions are delivered.


Education & Financial Literacy

  • Simplify complex financial concepts into clear, actionable guidance for members.
  • Develop and share educational resources that empower members to make informed decisions.
  • Actively contribute to financial literacy initiatives within the organization.


Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure all recommendations and referrals comply with regulatory standards and internal policies.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed records of member interactions, decisions made, and action plans implemented.


A little about your qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field.
  • Mutual Funds License (IFIC/MFDA) required.
  • Financial planning designations such as CFP, or equivalent advanced financial planning certificates are preferred.
  • 3-5 years in financial advisory or educational roles.
  • Experience in client-facing roles with a focus on financial education and planning.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex financial concepts for members.
  • Proficiency in financial planning tools and CRM systems.
