Reporting to the Corporate Director, Health and Safety, as the Health and Safety Manager, Ontario Region, is a strategic leader responsible for supporting health and safety operations across multiple sites, including Detour Lake Mine, Macassa Mine, and associated development projects. This role ensures compliance with Ontario’s OHSA and fosters a proactive safety culture aligned with Agnico Eagle’s core values of trust, respect, equity, family, and responsibility.

Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Corporate Director, Health and Safety, as the Health and Safety Manager, Ontario Region, is a strategic leader responsible for supporting health and safety operations across multiple sites, including Detour Lake Mine, Macassa Mine, and associated development projects. This role ensures compliance with Ontario’s OHSA and fosters a proactive safety culture aligned with Agnico Eagle’s core values of trust, respect, equity, family, and responsibility.
- Champion a zero-harm safety culture across Ontario operations;
- Lead and support site Health & Safety teams in achieving corporate and operational objectives;
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on health, safety, risk, and security matters;
- Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, mining regulations, and corporate standards;
- Monitor regulatory and industry developments and provide practical guidance on impacts and requirements;
- Maintain and continuously improve Health & Safety Management Systems and processes;
- Lead key safety programs, certifications, and corporate initiatives, including RMMS, TSM, and VPSHR;
- Develop and implement health, safety, and risk management strategies across Ontario operations;
- Oversee occupational hygiene, medical surveillance, exposure monitoring, and workplace health programs;
- Support emergency preparedness, response planning, training, and crisis management activities;
- Provide expertise in Bow Tie risk assessments, ICAM investigations, and corrective action management;
- Partner with operations teams to identify and mitigate operational risks;
- Support the implementation and effectiveness of corporate health and safety programs;
- Guide health and safety training programs and ensure compliance with mandatory requirements;
- Coach and develop Health & Safety team members through talent and succession planning initiatives;
- Monitor, analyze, and report on safety performance metrics and KPIs;
- Collaborate with leaders, regulators, contractors, and external stakeholders to support safe operations;
- Build and maintain relationships with industry associations and professional networks;
- Support community engagement and promote culturally respectful safety practices.
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field;
- CRSP designation preferred;
- 10+ years of health and safety leadership experience in the mining industry;
- Experience supporting both underground and open-pit mining operations;
- Strong knowledge of Ontario occupational health and safety legislation and mining regulations;
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and team development skills;
- Experience with risk management, incident investigations, and health and safety management systems;
- Strong communication, analytical, and stakeholder management abilities;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Health and Safety Management software.
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday at our Timmins, Kirkland Lake or Sudbury Regional Office. Occasional visits to site may also be required;
- Eligible for teleworking under Ontario Regional Teleworking Policy.
