About the Role

The Housekeeper at Applewood Retirement Residence is a key member of the team. They are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the home, ensuring that visitors, residents, and families have a pleasant and safe environment to live and work in. Duties include cleaning of common areas, project cleaning as well as the weekly cleaning of the resident's room. Follow daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules. Clean and maintain housekeeping cart to ensure all appropriate supplies are available and re-stocked. Report malfunctions in equipment and repairs needed to Environmental Manager. Notify Housekeeping Manager when housekeeping supplies are low. Follow job routines and instructions. Flexible with other duties as assigned. Maintain confidentiality of all facility information Qualifications:

• Previous housekeeping experience, preferably in a retirement or long-term care setting.
• Exhibits a caring and nurturing attitude while demonstrating true concern for the residents they support.
• Ability to relate to all levels of staff, residents, and their families, volunteers with a high degree of patience, tolerance, and confidentiality.
• Good communication skills both oral and written
• Possess initiative and the ability to make responsible choices that support resident’s best interest.
• Knowledge of WHMIS and the importance of keeping all cleaning materials under close watch at all times.
• Ability to manage priorities, time and multi-task
• Effective team player who works well independently as well as with other team members
• Able to make responsible choices that uphold optimal customer service and support resident's best interests.
• Polite & professional demeanor to maintain a positive image and reputation for Applewood Retirement Residence
