St. Albert Public Schools is currently recruiting a Part Time, Probationary, Occupational Therapy Assistant (REHAB) for a work assignment with our Inclusive Learning Team.

More than 9000 students are enrolled in St. Albert Public Schools. From Preschool to Grade 12, our students learn and succeed in programs that are recognized for excellence and their focus on citizenship and sound values.



Hours of Work: 12.0 hrs. /week; (2 days 6.0 hrs./day); Part Time, Probationary

Hourly Rate: $28.32 per hour, as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.


The Occupational Therapy Assistant works collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support student participation, independence and success within educational environments by implementing programs under the supervision of a registered Occupational Therapists. This role is integral in promoting student success through targeted interventions, collaborative planning, and comprehensive documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement high-quality, evidence-based interventions to students, under the supervision and guidance of the Occupational Therapist
  • Support students in developing fine motor, self-regulation, sensory processing, visual-motor and functional skills for the educational environment
  • Facilitate individual, small-group and large group interventions under the direction of the OT
  • Work collaboratively with ILT consultants and therapy assistants, teachers, educational assistants, administrators and families to support student success
  • Communicate regularly with the supervising OT regarding student progress, concerns and emerging needs
  • Monitor and document student responses to interventions and maintain accurate data and records
  • Assist with the preparation, organization, and maintenance of therapy materials and equipment
  • Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to changing student and school needs

Specific Needs/Requirements for this position:

  • Occupational Therapy Assistant Diploma or enrolled and actively working towards completion of diploma
  • Experience working with children with complex fine/gross motor needs
  • Experience with providing social, emotional, and behavioral supports is preferred
  • Experience working within a transdisciplinary team and collaborative environment an asset
  • Experience in the use of visual supports and/or assistive technology
  • Experience working with students with emotional regulation, sensory needs, and complex communicators (e.g., Augmentative and Alternative Communication)
  • Proven ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal skills required
  • Strong organizational skills required
  • Own transportation is necessary
