Role description:
Arcadis Canada is seeking an Intermediate Environmental Field Technician to join our Environmental Team in Canada. This position will be based out of Alberta or the prairie provinces. Travel to sites throughout region will be required, and there is an opportunity to travel across Canada.
This role sits within the Global Resilience Business Area. We work to protect our natural environment and water resources, while powering our world for future generations. Around the world, we’re feeling the effects climate change, rapid urbanization, loss of biodiversity. The rate at which we’re seeing large-scale, unforeseen events such as floods and wildfires, is becoming more frequent. Role accountabilities:
As an Intermediate Environmental Field Technician, you will work with Project Managers to co-ordinate and execute activities pertaining to the execution of environmental projects including data gap reviews, phase I and II environmental site assessments, and remediation projects. This role includes coordinating and conducting site visits and inspections, monitoring and supervising drilling and/or remediation activities, preparing field notes, and collecting soil and groundwater samples, and writing environmental reports.

The salary range for this position is $66,000-99,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.

Responsibilities will include:
- Strong understanding of field protocols including soil, groundwater, and vapour sampling, and overseeing drilling activities and subcontractor management
- Maintain knowledge and familiarity with provincial and federal regulatory frameworks
- Diligent interpretation of environmental data
- Comparison of sample results to applicable guidelines and standards
- Preparation of reports documenting the results of investigation programs
- Independently supervise contractors (drillers, daylighters, utility locators, etc.)
Qualifications & Experience:
- Technical Diploma or bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, earth sciences, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in soil, groundwater and vapour sampling, and overseeing drilling activities and subcontractor management preferred.
- Direct experience working at contaminated sites such as: industrial facilities, refineries/bulk plants/gas stations, military properties, commercial processing plants, federal government properties, airports, mines, power plants, wind farms and solar facilities.
- Registered as an E.I.T. or G.I.T. Eligibility for P.Eng. or P.Geo. considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor junior colleagues, fostering their professional growth and development
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication, interpersonal and writing skills; strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
