Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Laboratory Technician in the Oil and Gas Sector in Fort Hills, Fort McMurray, Alberta.
Laboratory technician will report to the Laboratory Supervisor. The laboratory technician will be responsible for ensuring that all analysis and test methods completed daily are performed according to Fort Hills Laboratory standards and procedures. Additional duties include but are not limited to, calibration and verification of laboratory equipment, preventive and corrective maintenance on laboratory equipment, receiving, logging, preparing, and discarding the samples, results entry in the LIMS system.

Total Rewards
- $35.00 hourly
- 12 Months of contract position, With possible of extension.
- Shift: 7days on /7 days off, 12 hours Day or night
- Work Location: Site Based Position at Fort Hills.
- Fly in, Fly Out position form Calgary/Edmonton.
- Candidates local to Fort McMurray, Bus transportation provided to base plant.
- Ensure that all work is completed in a safe, environmentally responsible manner according to established policies, procedures, and Good Laboratory Practices.
- Receive, examine, organize, and log all samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for testing according to established procedures.
- Responsible to provide good and reliable analysis results to all the laboratory customers in a reasonable timeframe.
- Perform required instrument setup, verification, calibrations, routine preventive and corrective maintenance and relevant QA testing according to established procedures.
- Ensure to keep the laboratory environment safe and clean.
- Participate in toolbox meeting, safety meeting, SOS and FLRA program and safety inspection.
- Participate in method validation and improvement projects in the workplace.
- Adhere and participate to the waste management program.
- Must possess a minimum of a two-year diploma in Chemical Technology or a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from a recognized institution.
- 2+ years of experience in an industrial quality control laboratory.
- Knowledge of relevant ASTM, UOP, CGSB or other standard methods of analysis.
- Experience in a LIMS environment would be an asset.
- Strong organizational and workload management skills.
- Good communication and teamwork with others.
- Strong safe work practices and a commitment to Journey to zero.
- Troubleshooting and analytical skills are required, Understanding of laboratory QA/QC practices, specifically ISO17025 is desired.
