Librarian Assistant

• circulate, shelve and organize library materials.
• assist librarian as required.
• Maintain library records and assist with inventory.
• process and prepare new library resources.
• support students and staff in locating and using library materials.
• assist with reading programs, book fairs, displays and library events.
• support the use of library technology and digital resources.
• maintain a safe, inclusive, and welcoming library environment.
• perform related clerical and organizational duties as assigned.

Qualifications/requirements:

• Grade 12 graduation or equivalent.
• Library training or related experience preferred.
• experience working with children in a school, library, or customer service setting.
• strong organizational, communication, and computer skills.
• ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• interest in literacy, learning, and student success.
• proficient fluency in the English language.
• successful criminal record check.
• ability to lift and move library materials as required.

The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, initiative, flexibility, and a commitment to supporting a positive learning environment for all students/staff. The salary will be commensurate with the position, 3100 per school month for a 10 month term contract with a number of paid sick days in the 10 month term.
