South Country Co-op is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Liquor Clerk to join our team at the Brooks Liquor Store in Brooks AB. If you’re passionate about providing exceptional customer experiences, we’d love to hear from you!
Reporting to the Liquor Manager, the Liquor Clerk is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while supporting the day-to-day operations of the liquor store. This includes stocking and displaying merchandise, operating the register, and ensuring the store is clean, safe, and well-merchandised. The role requires a proactive and professional approach to customer interaction and a solid understanding of product handling and liquor regulations.

This position requires full availability including days, evenings, and weekends.

Reporting to the Liquor Manager, the Liquor Clerk is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while supporting the day-to-day operations of the liquor store. This includes stocking and displaying merchandise, operating the register, and ensuring the store is clean, safe, and well-merchandised. The role requires a proactive and professional approach to customer interaction and a solid understanding of product handling and liquor regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide world-class customer service by assisting guests with purchases and inquiries
- Receive and stock merchandise, rotate inventory, and replenish shelves as needed
- Operate the cash register and handle cash, credit, and debit transactions
- Maintain merchandising standards, including creating endcap displays and signage
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of shelves, coolers, and store areas
- Adhere to provincial liquor laws and store safety procedures
- Support team members as needed and help maintain a collaborative work environment
- Educate customers on the benefits of membership in South Country Co-op
- Other duties as assigned
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Must have or be willing to obtain ProServe certification within 30 days of hire
- Previous experience in liquor retail or general retail/cash handling is preferred
- Physically able to stand for extended periods and lift 20–30 lbs (up to 50 lbs occasionally)
- Strong product knowledge and understanding of provincial liquor regulations an asset
- Basic computer, calculator, and POS skills
- Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, and professionally
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Detail-oriented, reliable, and a team player
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt to new technology
