The Third Party Residential Underwriting Division, as a Division of First National Financial provides underwriting expertise and services on behalf of other financial institutions to the Canadian Mortgage Broker channel.
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Third Party Residential Underwriting - BMBE, the Manager manages a team of Underwriters, Fulfillment Specialists, and Funders in meeting the goals of the Third Party Residential Underwriting Division. Under their guidance and leadership, the team is responsible for the assessment of mortgage applications in making lending decisions in adherence with the established mortgage underwriting policies and guidelines. The team also has responsibility for reviewing required documentation for accuracy and completion and for closing and advancing funds on approved mortgage applications while maintaining a consistent focus on service excellence.

How You Will Contribute
- Establishes and maintains positive relationships with mortgage brokers to build loyalty to the Company
- Maintains positive relationships with external partners such as mortgage insurers, appraisers, title insurance companies, and solicitors
- Generates new business opportunities through existing referral sources to help achieve company sales targets
- Makes lending decisions within established limits while ensuring adherence to policies and guidelines
- Completes management reporting as required
- Stays current with latest industry knowledge, competition, and market trends
- Manages the capacity of the team through efficient delegation of work and careful monitoring of volumes within the workflow
- Manages the performance of team members through ongoing feedback and coaching
- Establishes performance and work standards
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and on boards new employees as required
- Provides coaching, training, support and development to team members
- Leads team meetings
- Conducts annual performance reviews
- Adheres to policies/procedures to ensure AML requirements are met, when applicable
- Post-secondary education and/or equivalent work experience preferred
- 3-5 years previous mortgage underwriting experience required
- 2 or more years people management experience
- Completion of Mortgage Agent Course an asset
- Demonstrated ability to:

- Prolonged periods of repetitive movement (i.e. using a keyboard and mouse)
- Long periods of time in viewing a computer screen
- Multi-tasking may include speaking to customers on a telephone call while looking up information on a computer program.
