The Mechanical Estimator is located in Vancouver and reports directly to the Senior Mechanical Estimator.
The Mechanical Estimator will analyze costs and prepare work take-offs and estimates on mechanical projects. The successful candidate will provide technical and administrative support to project operations with emphasis on estimating, reporting and monitoring progress, planning, scheduling, and handling project change.

The Mechanical Estimator will analyze costs and prepare work take-offs and estimates on mechanical projects. The successful candidate will provide technical and administrative support to project operations with emphasis on estimating, reporting and monitoring progress, planning, scheduling, and handling project change.
- Prepare estimates of cost of materials, labour and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications.
- Advise on tendering procedures, examine and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards and participate in negotiations.
- Establish and maintain tendering process, set up cost monitoring, reporting systems and procedures.
- Coordinates price packages with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, designers and architects regarding tenders.
- Participates in site review, tender review, tender hand-off, project closing and operational/sector meetings with the Senior Estimator and Project Managers and Division Manager as required
- Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors
- Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors, and prepare economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.

- Completion of a Degree or Diploma in Construction Engineering Technology/Construction Management is an asset
- 2-5 years of experience as a qualified tradesperson within the commercial construction industry may substitute for education requirements.
- 2-3 years of estimating experience in the commercial construction industry is preferable
- Proficient knowledge and strong understanding of established Construction best practices
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Proficient with recognized estimating software is an asset
- Proficient user of MS Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Willing and able to travel within the Greater Vancouver area for site visits as needed
- Clean Class 5 BC Drivers’ license and abstract
