Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for an Operations Manager in the Power Generation and Utilities Industry in Calgary, Alberta.

Our client is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to provide leadership and operational oversight for a large-scale thermal power generation facility located west of Edmonton. This is a senior leadership role responsible for plant safety, reliability, compliance, team performance, and operational results. Ideal candidates bring strong power generation expertise, proven leadership capabilities, and a passion for developing high-performing teams in a safety-critical environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a large thermal power facility
• Serve as Chief Power Engineer and ensure regulatory compliance
• Develop and implement operational procedures, policies, and best practices
• Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to maximize plant performance
• Lead safety initiatives, compliance programs, and incident investigations
• Manage operational planning, budgeting, and business performance objectives
• Develop, mentor, and support a team of supervisors and operators
• Drive continuous improvement, workforce engagement, and operational excellence
  
  

Requirements

• Hold a First Class Power Engineer Certificate of Competency
• Bring 10+ years of progressive experience in power generation or large industrial operations
• Demonstrate leadership experience managing operations teams in a complex environment
• Possess strong knowledge of thermal power generation, safety, and regulatory compliance
• Apply experience with outage management, reliability improvement, and risk mitigation
• Demonstrate experience working within a unionized environment
• Show strong financial acumen with budgeting and business planning responsibilities
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders across operations, maintenance, and engineering
