Reports To: Financial Officer
Term: Permanent Full-Time (37.5 hours per week)
Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm with ½ hour paid break.
Wage Range: $28.32 - $32.51 (Commensurate based on education and related experience.)
Company Description: The ASK Wellness Society is an Accredited not-for-profit organization. Through the generous support of funders, we assist those who are marginalized and at-risk to strengthen the communities we serve (Kamloops, Merritt, and Penticton). We provide housing and support to those who are facing homelessness/at risk of homelessness and support those who may use substances, mental health challenges, harm reduction, health education and ultimately provide the skills to re-enter the workforce.
Role Description: The Payroll Administrator will be responsible for administering the bi-weekly payroll and other payroll functions. In this role, you will be expected to maintain confidentiality at all times, exercise sound judgment, be detail oriented and independent while supporting all payroll functions. The successful candidate will have experience in payroll, be proficient with Microsoft excel and have experience with sophisticated payroll systems.
Typical Duties Include:
- Processing biweekly payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with government legislation, society policies and procedures. Prepare and submit required payroll reports and remittances. Preparation of statutory and other reporting requirements.
- Administering employee benefits, including pension (enrollments, leaves & terminations).
- Communicating with employees and other stakeholders regarding payroll related inquiries.
- Maintaining up to date employee records within payroll software database and files.
- Maintaining detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes, in accordance with legislative requirements.
- Ongoing support for employees and supervisors with payroll system and electronic timekeeping.
- Ensuring compliance with all Society policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
- 3+ years with related Canadian payroll experience with related Canadian payroll experience
- Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) or Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) is required.
- Experience processing payroll for a large employee group (300+ employees) is considered a significant asset
- Knowledge of Federal and BC statutory reporting rules and regulations is required regulations is required.
- Experience in payroll application software (Workday, Payworks, Kronos, PeopleSoft, etc.)
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills.
- Previous experience in processing Municipal Pension Plan is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to deal with sensitive situations with integrity and in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information.
- Must pass an acceptable criminal record check for the vulnerable sector.
- Readiness to complete in-house online training within the first month of employment.
- It is noted that this is a pet friendly environment.
- Valid driver’s license, safe driving record and reliable/appropriate transportation with business use coverage required.
