PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Plant Manager leads and develops the manufacturing organization with the goal of maximizing customer satisfaction, operating performance, and profitability, while minimizing operational costs. This role is accountable for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people development, using continuous improvement philosophies and methodologies to drive manufacturing excellence in a unionized environment.

The Plant Manager leads and develops the manufacturing organization with the goal of maximizing customer satisfaction, operating performance, and profitability, while minimizing operational costs. This role is accountable for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people development, using continuous improvement philosophies and methodologies to drive manufacturing excellence in a unionized environment.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Specific Responsibilities
- Build and execute plant industrial strategy aligned with business strategic plans and assumptions.
- Lead industrial projects (layout, flow, technologies, investments) and optimize plant resources and assets.
- Drive HS&E performance through robust safety action plans, risk management, and effective HS&E systems.
- Own Nexans Excellence Way (vision, implementation, coaching, continuous improvement) at plant level.
- Lead annual industrial action plans and ensure reliable maintenance of industrial equipment and assets.
- Manage financial performance (fixed and direct costs, manufacturing variances, ROCE, OWC, OM, Cash) and master data accuracy (BOM, routines).
- Ensure customer satisfaction and growth via on-time/in-full delivery, systematic management of quality claims (8D), lead time reduction, and support to new products and solutions.
- Ensure robust quality systems (including ISO 9001 & 14001) are maintained, audited, and continuously improved to minimize customer complaints and non-conformities.
- Optimize inventories and capacity with Supply Chain to enable flexible volumes, product mix, and integrated supply chain processes.
- Promote learning, benchmarking, and best practice sharing across plants; participate in transversal networks and structured management routines.
- Develop people and organization (performance reviews, coaching, succession planning, competency development, training, versatile profiles) and maintain strong team spirit in a unionized environment.
- Foster a safety and continuous improvement culture with open communication, effective union relationships, and alignment with Nexans values.
- Strong leadership capability with proven ability to motivate, influence, coach, and develop teams at all levels of an organization.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated business acumen with the ability to translate operational performance into financial impact.
- Highly developed analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective negotiation skills and experience managing labour relations in a unionized environment.
- Strong time management and organizational skills; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to gain credibility quickly with employees, peers, and senior management.
- Comfortable taking appropriate risks, driving change, and continuously learning.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Minimum 5–10 years of management experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally in cable and wiring, electrical products, or closely related industrial manufacturing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business, ideally combined with professional qualifications in Manufacturing, Operations, or Business Management.
- Demonstrated experience in a unionized environment with strong labour relations.
- Experience preparing and managing capital budgets, including building business cases and tracking returns.
- Strong cross-functional business skills and the ability to translate plans and business results into financial as well as operational terms.
