Royal York Property Management

Date: 5 hours ago
City: Milton, ON
Contract type: Full time
Maintenance, Plumbing, Skilled Trades

Compensation: Competitive appointment-based and hourly compensation based on experience, verified qualifications, approved scope of work, and the type of plumbing appointment assigned.

Royal York Property Management is one of Canada’s leading property management companies, managing thousands of residential rental properties across Ontario and beyond. We are looking for experienced, reliable Plumbers to join our growing network of service professionals.

This role involves travelling to residential properties to diagnose plumbing issues and complete repairs, service calls, and installations within your verified legal scope. Plumbers will work independently, manage appointments through a mobile work app, document their findings, and complete assigned work safely while protecting the property from leaks and water damage.

What to Expect After Applying

If your resume aligns with the role, you will receive an email within 24 to 48 hours of applying with a link to complete a pre-recorded online interview.

The interview allows us to learn more about your plumbing experience, trade status, ability to work independently, areas of expertise, diagnostic ability, tools, vehicle, availability, and comfort using a mobile work app before moving qualified candidates to the next stage of the hiring process.

What You’ll Do

  • Diagnose plumbing problems before recommending repairs or replacement
  • Complete residential plumbing service calls and repairs within your verified legal scope
  • Repair leaks, toilets, faucets, sinks, drains, shut-off valves, supply lines, and common plumbing fixtures
  • Complete fixture replacements and simple dishwasher or laundry connections when appropriate
  • Inspect plumbing systems and identify the source of leaks or other problems
  • Respond appropriately to active leaks and take steps to reduce the risk of water damage
  • Test completed repairs and check for leaks before leaving the property
  • Identify when parts, follow-up work, permits, inspections, or a different specialist may be required
  • Record findings, repairs completed, parts used, and recommended follow-up work
  • Take clear photos of the plumbing issue, repair area, damaged components, and completed work
  • Report unsafe conditions, unresolved leaks, water damage risks, or work outside your approved scope
  • Use a mobile work app to receive work orders, read instructions, navigate with GPS, upload photos, and update job statuses
  • Travel between appointments using your own vehicle

Mandatory Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of paid professional plumbing experience
  • Must hold valid plumber trade status that can be verified
  • Must be able to diagnose and complete assigned plumbing service jobs independently without technical job-site supervision
  • Must be legally able to perform plumbing work through an appropriate contractor or business setup
  • Experience completing common residential plumbing repairs and service calls
  • Must have your own reliable vehicle to travel between appointments and carry tools, parts, equipment, and supplies
  • Must have your own plumbing tools, equipment, and common service supplies appropriate for your approved scope of work
  • Must have your own suitable smartphone capable of using GPS, mobile work apps, taking clear photos, reading work orders, and submitting job updates
  • Strong understanding of plumbing safety, property protection, leak control, and legal scope
  • Able to test completed work and report unresolved or additional plumbing problems
  • Basic English communication skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and comfortable with GPS-confirmed appointments
  • Must arrive no later than 30 minutes after the scheduled appointment time

Licensing and Legal Work Requirements

Plumbers will only be assigned work that matches their verified experience, trade status, insurance, contractor or business setup, and legal authority.

Plumber trade status and the legal ability to accept plumbing work through a business or contractor setup are separate requirements. Before any plumbing work is assigned, Royal York Property Management will verify that the work can be completed through an appropriate legal setup.

Larger or specialized work, including rough-ins, sewer or underground work, backflow services, water heaters, gas-related work, major pipe changes, and permit-heavy projects, will only be assigned after the technician’s qualifications, certifications, scope, and legal requirements have been reviewed and approved.

Plumbers are expected to stop and report work that is unsafe, outside their approved scope, or requires a permit, inspection, certification, or different specialist.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid 306A Plumber Certificate of Qualification or equivalent recognized trade status
  • Red Seal plumbing qualification
  • Strong residential plumbing service-call experience
  • Commercial plumbing service experience
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing leaks, toilets, faucets, fixtures, drains, valves, and supply lines
  • Experience with drain or sewer work, where properly qualified
  • Backflow certification, where applicable
  • Gas certification for gas-related work, where applicable
  • Experience with renovation, rough-in, water heater, or larger plumbing work within a verified scope
  • Strong repair-versus-replacement judgment
  • Experience documenting plumbing work through photos and digital job reports

Why Join Royal York Property Management?

  • Competitive compensation based on experience, verified qualifications, and assigned work
  • Higher earning opportunities for plumbers approved for more advanced or specialized scopes
  • Access to ongoing residential plumbing service opportunities
  • A combination of diagnostic, repair, installation, and maintenance assignments
  • Mobile scheduling, navigation, work orders, photos, and job updates
  • Independent work across managed residential properties
  • Job assignments matched to your verified skills and approved legal scope
  • Opportunity to build a long-term working relationship with an established property management company
