PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
As the Pricing Analyst - Grain, you will analyze, recommend, and implement key components of pricing and sales support strategies and tactical plans that drive retention, growth, and value across CPKC’s Grain market segment portfolios. In this role, you will develop and implement competitive pricing and product offerings that generate customer value while supporting the achievement of company objectives.
This position can be based in either Calgary, AB or Winnipeg, MB, providing flexibility for candidates in either location.

Management Conductor Program
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
As the Pricing Analyst - Grain, you will analyze, recommend, and implement key components of pricing and sales support strategies and tactical plans that drive retention, growth, and value across CPKC’s Grain market segment portfolios. In this role, you will develop and implement competitive pricing and product offerings that generate customer value while supporting the achievement of company objectives.
This position can be based in either Calgary, AB or Winnipeg, MB, providing flexibility for candidates in either location.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Analyze and implement Grain market segment strategies, including market trends, competitive assessments, pricing scenarios, growth opportunities, fleet strategies, and action plans that drive revenue, yield, and margin performance
- Strengthen CPKC’s competitive position by monitoring market trends, assessing competitive activity, and gathering strategic market intelligence
- Identify and recommend opportunities within Grain market segments, including bids and RFPs, new customer opportunities, emerging markets, and industry changes
- Support strategic contract renewals through value assessments, profitability analysis, pricing recommendations, volume and traffic trend analysis, and performance against contract commitments
- Develop and implement pricing strategies and structures that align with Grain segment objectives, optimize portfolio value, and reflect CPKC’s service capabilities, market conditions, and customer requirements
- Monitor monthly and annual revenue performance against forecasts and business plans, providing insights and recommendations to optimize portfolio performance and support Grain and corporate growth objectives.
- Represent CPKC’s Grain business in collaboration with interline partners, identifying joint growth opportunities and developing pricing strategies that support shared commercial objectives
- Provide analytical expertise and strategic recommendations to cross-functional project teams, supporting initiatives that advance Grain segment priorities and deliver business results
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Customer Service teams to ensure pricing, product, and market strategies are effectively executed and aligned with customer and business needs
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, finance supply chain, agriculture economics or a related field or possess equivalent professional work experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in pricing, sales analysis, commercial strategy, or a related analytical role
- Grain industry and market knowledge and intelligence is an asset
- Strong financial analysis, business value analysts and acumen
- Ability to build relationships across business functions is desirable
- Excellent communication skills – written, verbal and presentation skills
