Position Summary

The Principal is a key educational and spiritual leader at Airdrie Christian Academy (ACA At-Home), responsible for cultivating a Christ-centered learning environment that nurtures academic excellence and spiritual growth. The principal leads a dynamic team of educators and works collaboratively to help students achieve their full potential, both academically and in their relationship with Jesus, so they are equipped to impact their world for Christ.

As a senior member of the ACA-Home Leadership Team, the Principal contributes to both the educational and organizational success of the school, upholding ACA's mission: “We are called by Jesus Christ to advance God's Kingdom by educating and training His children to personally know, love and serve Him” and the vision of “equipping and discipling generations for Christ.”

Reporting Structure and Relationships

Reports directly to the Head of School (HoS) and will be evaluated as frequently as annually by the HoS
    Collaborates with the ACA-Home Leadership Team. Oversees educational staff and fosters a positive, Christ-honoring staff culture.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with students, parents, and other key stakeholders.

Ministry Qualifications

Devoted follower of Jesus Christ, demonstrating spiritual maturity and the Fruit of the Spirit.
    Passionate about ACA's mission and vision. Leads with integrity and seeks to cultivate an authentic Christ-like culture
Personal Qualifications Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
    Professional, innovative, and organized with a collaborative spirit. Clear communicator, both verbal and written. Analytical thinker with a solution-oriented mindset. Proven relationship builder with internal and external stakeholders. High attention to detail and strong time management skills. Maintains discretion with sensitive information
Professional Qualifications Valid Alberta Teaching Certification.
    Alberta Leadership Certification (or willingness to obtain). A minimum of a Bachelor of Education is required. A master's degree in educational leadership or a related field is considered an asset. Previous experience as a principal or Vice Principal is considered an asset. Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage curriculum, and implement educational objectives. Experienced in engaging parents and supporting student development

    Oversee the educational program and ensure alignment with ACA's mission and Alberta Education standards. Supervise teachers and administrative / support staff. RESPONSIBILITIES (to be owned or delegated)

INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP

Lead all areas of instructional programming in the attainment of excellence: academics, arts, athletics, spiritual formation, and more.
    Monitor and ensure effective delivery of curriculum, assessment, and reporting practices. Curriculum review and implementation. Course scheduling and planning. Ensuring access to learning supports as necessary. Ensure compliance with Alberta Education requirements. Promote high academic and personal expectations for educational staff and all students
STAFF LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT Hire, develop, and support a qualified and mission-aligned educational team.
    Conduct regular staff meetings and professional growth reviews. Support Teacher Professional Growth Plans and staff development initiatives, including organizing/leading regular Professional Development. Ensure the observation and evaluation of teachers and administrative / support staff in collaboration with other leadership team members. Provide direction and support to teachers in managing student and parent relationships. Evaluate teacher performance based on Alberta Education's Teacher Quality Standards (TQS) Utilize educational opportunities, processes, and wise counsel for ongoing professional growth.
  • Attend, lead, and participate in scheduled devotional, committee, faculty, and parent-teacher meetings.
SCHOOL CULTURE & STUDENT LIFE Address climate, culture, and discipline to maintain a positive learning environment.
    Ensure students' safety and uphold behavioral expectations. Help create a spiritually focused, vibrant, and caring school culture.
  • Plan and organize student life events such as chapels, grad, fundraisers, and first/last day of school activities.
OPERATIONS & ADMINISTRATION Oversee and administer school policies and procedures.
    Assist with policy development and implementation aligned with ACA's vision. Continually endeavor to improve the operational effectiveness of the school. Lead program planning, budgeting, and reporting (e.g., Annual Education Plan, AERR, and strategic goals). Manage educational resources and approve expenditures within policy guidelines. Create and implement effective staff and student schedules (including timetables, supervision, and DT schedules). Participate in Educational Admin Team Meetings (Registrar, Director of Home Education, other program leaders).
  • Provide input and recommendations to the administration regarding school operations.
COMMUNITY RELATIONS & COLLABORATION Collaborate with other principals to support shared goals and initiatives.
    Communicate effectively with teachers and school staff team members
  • Participate in admissions processes, including family interviews and re-enrolment activities.
  • Attend and support school events as a visible school leader.
  • Assist with marketing initiative / strategy
