We are seeking an experienced HVAC Project Manager to oversee residential HVAC projects from start to finish. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects while supporting the Installation Manager.
This position requires strong organizational skills, proactive communication, and the ability to manage multiple moving parts without constant supervision. The successful candidate will act as a key link between homeowners, builders, installation crews, and office staff to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.
This role may require answering phone calls outside regular business hours on occasion, as well as occasional evening and weekend work.
Duties:
Project Management
- Manage residential HVAC projects from initial planning through completion.
- Coordinate scheduling, materials, equipment, and labour to ensure timely project delivery.
- Act as the primary point of contact for homeowners, builders, and internal teams.
- Monitor project budgets, timelines, and quality standards.
- Review sold jobs for accuracy, equipment selection, and installation requirements prior to scheduling.
- Verify site conditions, measurements, and scope of work before installation.
- Identify potential installation challenges and develop solutions before crews arrive on site.
- Review change orders and additional work requirements with management.
Financial & Operational Oversight
- Monitor labour hours and project costs against budget.
- Identify and address cost overruns before they impact project profitability.
- Assist with workflow optimization and process improvements.
- Identify recurring installation issues and implement corrective actions.
Team Leadership & Support
- Assist the Installation Manager with team coordination and problem-solving.
- Provide daily support and direction to installation crews.
- Troubleshoot issues and provide technical guidance to installers.
- Conduct job-site quality inspections and provide coaching as required.
Customer Service
- Manage customer expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally.
- Maintain clear communication with customers, builders, and team members throughout each project.
Safety & Compliance
- Conduct site visits to ensure that work is completed safely and in accordance with specifications.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Maintain knowledge of Ontario Building Code, TSSA regulations, and HVAC industry best practices.
Role Requirements Aligned to Key Duties
Core Skills:
- Proven experience in the HVAC industry (residential experience required).
- Previous project management, supervisory, or leadership experience.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, installation practices, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
- Valid driver's license.
Technical Experience:
- Experience with heat pumps, dual-fuel systems, boilers, geothermal systems, and ductless installations.
- Knowledge of Ontario Building Code, TSSA regulations, and HVAC industry standards.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and installation requirements.
- Possession of applicable HVAC industry certifications and licenses is considered a strong asset, including G2 or G1 Gas Technician License, ODP Certification, Sheet Metal, Refrigeration, or other relevant trade qualifications.
Software & Administration:
- Experience using CRM, dispatching, and project management software.
- Strong computer skills, including Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to maintain accurate project documentation and records.
