Position Summary
Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at the Fort St. John medical unit.
In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, and practicing in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), this position provides enhanced quality and continuity of care for clients preparing for discharge from hospitals by providing a sound referral system to the Community Interprofessional Team (IPT). In collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the Nurse provides community care input to the development of individualized client discharge plans and refers to the Interprofessional Team including the Long-term Care Managers, to facilitate access to Home Support, Adult Day Programs, Assisted Living and Long-term facility care.
Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days, 09:00 to 17:00
A first in Canada: minimum Nurse-to-Patient Ratios (mNPRs) are starting in B.C.! Northern Health, alongside B.C.'s other health authorities, is implementing mNPRs as a transformative staffing initiative that aims to improve the working environment of nurses in order to provide better quality care to our patients.
Qualifications
- Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as a practicing RN registrant.
- A minimum of four (4) years post-graduate experience of which a minimum of two (2) years are in community care nursing.
- Post-graduate experience in hospital nursing in a variety of fields.
Skills and Abilities:
- Clinical competence in both community and acute care nursing.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish, maintain and promote effective working relationships.
- Ability to maintain good public relations with clients/patients, family and friends.
- Ability to work within a team setting and facilitate when required.
- Ability to prioritize and organize.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Physical ability to perform duties.
- Valid B.C. Driver’s License, use of personal vehicle may be required.
