A Day in the Life:

The Safety Business Partner is responsible for leading and supporting Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) programs across operations to ensure effective risk management, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. This role partners closely with Operations Management to develop, implement, monitor, and enhance EH&S systems, training, and performance while fostering a proactive safety culture across the organization.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Develop, implement, and support EH&S programs, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance and effective risk management.
  • Conduct and coordinate EH&S risk assessments, audits, inspections, and compliance reviews across assigned operations.
  • Provide technical EH&S guidance and support to management and employees.
  • Review incident investigations, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure accurate classification and timely reporting of injuries, environmental incidents, property damage, and near misses.
  • Lead complex incident investigations and prepare reports for internal, regulatory, and corporate requirements.
  • Partner with operational leaders to develop site-specific EH&S plans and strengthen safety performance.
  • Monitor regulatory and industry requirements to ensure compliance and identify emerging risks and opportunities.
  • Provide recommendations regarding ergonomics, facility design, equipment safety, and operational risk reduction.
  • Manage environmental, health, and safety reporting requirements and maintain performance metrics and data.
  • Develop, deliver, and facilitate EH&S training programs and coaching initiatives for employees and leaders.
  • Support and coordinate site trainers to ensure consistent and effective safety training.
  • Serve as the primary contact for regulatory agencies and external EH&S stakeholders.
  • Represent the company on internal and external committees related to EH&S initiatives and regulatory developments.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Corporate EH&S teams to ensure consistent program implementation and continuous improvement.
  • Support emergency response planning, preparedness, and incident response activities.
  • Travel to operational locations and corporate offices as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S).
  • Post-secondary degree in a natural or applied science, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional designation in a relevant discipline is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, provincial/state, and local EH&S regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and managing EH&S systems, programs, and processes.
  • Experience with incident investigations, risk assessments, auditing, and corrective action management.
  • Strong facilitation, training, coaching, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly within the assigned geographic area.
