Job Description

We invite you to join the world of hospitality at Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire as our new Banquet Second Cook. The Second Cook plays a key role in assisting with banquet food preparation and culinary operations while developing stronger culinary techniques and production skills.

Please note that this is a contract position for the period from September 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026.

Key Responsibilities

Banquet Food Preparation

• Prepare food items for banquet events including plated meals and buffet service.
• Assist with mise en place preparation for upcoming events.
• Maintain knowledge of banquet menu items and ingredients.
  
  

Kitchen Operations

• Maintain clean and organized workstations.
• Ensure proper product storage and rotation.
• Assist with production setup for large-scale banquet events.
  
  

Team Collaboration

• Work collaboratively with team during service.
• Support plating operations during banquet execution.
• Participate in shift briefings and production discussions.
  
  

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all food safety and sanitation standards.
• Ensure safe handling of kitchen equipment.
  
  

Qualifications

What will you bring to this role?

• Minimum 2 years culinary experience developing cooking techniques for banquet production, station prep and ingredient preparation.
• Working towards Journeyperson/Red Seal certification.
• Food Handler certification required.
• Culinary diploma considered an asset.
• Ability to manage prep tasks independently while supporting event production timelines with the ability to increase speed and efficiency in high-volume service.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods during event preparation.
• Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-temperature kitchen environment.
