Senior Buyer

Kitchener Executive Consultants Inc. is pleased to represent a manufacturer and assembler of mechanical systems in their search to add an experienced Senior Buyer to the Materials Department. Operating within a high-mix environment that includes both internally manufactured and outsourced components, our Client is currently navigating production scheduling and inventory challenges.

This role is designed to go beyond traditional purchasing. The Senior Buyer will play a critical part in our Client's expansion strategy by taking ownership of direct material sourcing as well as high-stakes outsourcing initiatives, including subcontracted manufacturing operations, secondary processing, and external assemblies.

The Senior Buyer will possess a deep understanding of industrial manufacturing industries and a proven ability to optimize Supply Chains within high mix, low to high volume environments. The mandate for this role includes evaluating and rationalizing the existing supplier base, identifying opportunities to reduce vendor count, and establishing strategic partnerships that support cost reduction and operational efficiency. A hands-on, analytical approach and the ability to balance tactical execution with long-term supply chain strategy will be essential.

Our ideal candidate will bring at least 10 years of purchasing experience, specifically with mechanical and raw material components, and a strong track record of developing and implementing outsourced vendor strategies and supplier agreements. Prior experience working within ERP/MRP systems is required, with a preference given to those familiar with Sage, SAP or Oracle.
