Senior Content Marketing Manager

Helcim

Date: 5 hours ago
City: Calgary, AB
Contract type: Full time

What We’re Building

Helcim is looking for a Senior Content Marketing Manager to architect our brand narrative, build a scalable content engine, and direct our creative output across every channel. This is a senior, hybrid leader-and-doer role: you'll set the strategy and own the pen, personally shaping content while leading a small team of in-house and freelance creatives.

You will develop and own the content strategy that drives brand awareness and customer acquisition within our core target markets — traditional small business owner/operators across industries, with a focus on healthcare, professional services, automotive, and wholesale. You'll have the creative freedom to test, iterate, and scale a winning multi-channel strategy, whether that's launching high-impact webinars, building a killer newsletter, or driving engagement through Reddit community management. You are the ultimate guardian of Helcim's narrative, bridging long-term brand building with fast-paced tactical execution.

AI is a core part of how we work — not as a shortcut, but as a force multiplier. You'll be expected to stay at the leading edge of AI-enabled content workflows, using these tools to move faster and scale smarter while keeping the human connection to our merchants front and centre.

If you're ready to lead an end-to-end content engine, make a real impact, and join a team that values creativity and merchant success, then Helcim is the place for you.

Team You'll Lead

  • 1 In-house YouTube Creator
  • 1–2 Freelance Copywriters
  • 1–2 Freelance Video Editors

Who You'll Serve

Our merchants are traditional, gritty, everyday operators — think auto mechanics, therapists, wholesalers, and busy medical clinics — not trend-driven consumer brands. This role calls for someone who genuinely understands and respects that audience, and who can build a distinctive brand voice for a practical, no-nonsense small-business world rather than a fast-moving social-first one.

Are You Our Next Builder?

  • Driven by the “lightbulb moment” — the joy of creating content that genuinely helps a merchant solve a problem and grow their business.
  • A curious merchant-centered storyteller who puts small business owners’ needs, pain points, and triumphs at the center of every narrative.
  • A natural creative with a sharp instinct for what stops the scroll — you understand what lands in today’s fast-evolving content landscape, you’re not afraid to take risks, and you have a genuine affinity for the craft of storytelling.
  • An elite editor — you can take a draft from a 7/10 and elevate it to an 11/10 with ease.
  • Hands-on and genuinely curious about AI — you actively explore thoughtful ways to integrate AI into content systems. You’re committed to building an impactful, AI-enabled content engine that moves quickly without ever sacrificing the human connection to our merchants. Quality over slop, always.
  • Strong SEO instincts and experience partnering with SEO to ensure content works as hard as possible for organic discovery.
  • Zero ego, infinite hustle — comfortable alternating between high-level strategy and deep hands-on execution.
  • Excited by the opportunity to join a growing, scaling company and the unique challenges that brings.
  • Ability to foster strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

What You Bring

  • 8-10 years of experience in the content world, ideally in B2B Tech or SaaS.
  • 3–5 years of experience directly managing in-house creatives, freelancers, or agencies.
  • Proven track record of building and executing multi-channel content strategies that drive measurable business outcomes.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills across a range of formats and audiences.
  • Comfort with AI tools, automation, and content operations platforms.
  • Experience working in a startup or high-growth environment is a strong asset.

The Role: What You’ll Do

Strategy & Content Development

  • Design, execute, and own an end-to-end content calendar built to engage and convert small business merchants.
  • Produce, write, and oversee high-quality content across diverse formats — webinars, newsletters, social communities, video, and more.
  • Continuously test new formats and platforms to discover what resonates best with our core audience segments.

Team Leadership & Operations

  • Lead, mentor, and unblock a nimble content engine — managing one in-house YouTube Creator alongside freelance copywriters and video editors.
  • Streamline content operations and scale production by thoughtfully leveraging AI tools and automated workflows.
  • Maintain and enforce writing guides to ensure absolute consistency across all outputs, regardless of who is creating the content.

Brand Voice & Collaboration

  • Further shape and refine Helcim’s brand tone of voice, striking the perfect balance between qualitative customer insights and quantitative performance marketing feedback.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional growth teams to ensure content supports broader acquisition goals.

Helcim: The Big Picture

Helcim was founded with a mission at heart: to be the world’s most loved payment system. From the very start, we knew that we wanted to be different from every payment processor out there. We want the merchants we serve to feel supported and see us as a trusted partner rather than simply just another “cost of doing business.” We are relentless in our pursuit to provide a radically transparent and honest payments solution that flat out saves business owners money, all while treating them like human beings.

At Helcim, we build a team of engaged, caring and intelligent people. In return we provide an environment where you can be excited to come to work each day and tackle these challenges with an amazing team. Learn more in our culture book; The Way of the Helcim.

The Helcim Culture: How We Work

  • We Are Builders: We don't wait for solutions; we create them.
  • The Harder Path: We choose what’s difficult because it’s more rewarding.
  • Creating Trust: We earn it every day by being our best selves.
  • Company of Many: We’re a collective force. Great teams do great things.

The Perks: Why You’ll Love It Here

  • Ownership: Every single team member gets Stock Options. You own a piece of what you build!
  • Health First: Comprehensive benefits + a Health Spending Account (HSA) starting on Day 1.
  • Flexibility: Hybrid life! We’re in-office Mon/Wed/Fri and remote Tue/Thu.
  • Family Support: Top-ups for maternity leave and "bonding breaks."
  • Rest & Recharge: Paid vacation + a full company break in December.
  • Growth: $500 annual training budget to keep your skills sharp.
