Position: Senior / Principal Backfill Engineer

Location: Canada

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior/Principal Backfill Engineer to join our Geotechnical team, with opportunities to be based in Canada.

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering technical assignments with minimal supervision, integrating within the project team while taking responsibility for your discipline. You will work under the guidance of a Project Manager , or stepping into the Project Manager role when required. You will also play a key part in managing and mitigating AMC’s risk exposure while actively promoting AMC’s services.

Leveraging your extensive experience and industry networks, you will proactively market AMC’s services and deliver chargeable consulting work.

Salary

C$130,000 – $200,000, the salary will be based on your overall experiences and qualifications.

Skills And Competencies

Core functions

  • Manage and deliver consulting assignments, serving as Project Manager when necessary
  • Complete technical tasks within established timeframes and budget limits
  • Provide guidance, supervision, and support to junior staff and consultants
  • Develop and maintain client relationships to support AMC’s brand and project portfolio
  • Generate and oversee an individual portfolio of consulting assignments (target: 60% self-sourced)
  • Review colleagues’ work and participate in internal knowledge-sharing activities
  • Adhere to AMC’s risk management, health, safety, and quality assurance policies
  • Ensure project documentation and client communications are current and accurate

Qualifications And Experience

  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Mining or Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Minimum ~10-15 year s’ experience in the mining industry with a broad experience of backfilling methods. Also required is experience undertaking backfill projects and/or operation of backfill systems.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage projects, and market services.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • High ethical standards, professionalism, and alignment with AMC values.
