Your Opportunity:
The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic outpatient Psychosocial Oncology team within Cancer Care Alberta. This position may support patients (in person or virtually) who are connected to the Central Alberta Cancer Centre, community cancer center patients or supports to Cross Cancer Institute, and Grande Prairie Cancer Centre. This team includes social work, psychology, spiritual care and other specialized navigators and consultants. In addition to the Psychosocial Oncology team, the successful candidate will be part of a larger team of oncologists, nurses, and rehabilitation medicine practitioners working to support patients and their families. You will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful work by connecting and providing cancer patients and their families with resources, practical needs, emotional support and advocacy, throughout the cancer experience. Initial consultations are typically conducted over the phone with the opportunity for face-to-face follow up as needed. This is a highly engaged social work team who carry large caseloads and respond professionally and compassionately to patients with complex needs.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year experience in an Oncology setting. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Medical setting (acute/ambulatory/community care). BCLS (CPR) certification required WHS - Musculoskeletal Injury (MSI) Prevention. WHS - Office Ergonomics. Within the last 2 years, working experience of the Patient Financial Assistance Program (PFAP), and other financial assistance requests. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high volume outpatient clinic and treatment setting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High degree of competency working with patients who are experiencing emotional distress and life-threatening illness, grief and loss. Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures using a supportive, non-judgmental approach. Experience working with multidisciplinary teams. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Ability to be flexible and adaptable with work environment (i.e. workplace noise, sharing office space). Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
EPIC/Connect care experience. Experience in providing virtual care. Non-violent crisis intervention training, ASIST training and crisis intervention skills would be considered an asset. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Ability to be flexible and adaptable with work. Minimum of 2 years of social work in a medical / hospital setting and with cancer patients preferred.
