We are looking for a Solutions Architect to join Canada Life's Insurance Solutions Technology team. In this role, you will partner with business and technology leaders to define solution architectures that support strategic business objectives while aligning with enterprise standards, target state roadmaps, and modernization goals.
You will work across a diverse technology landscape spanning cloud platforms, APIs, data services, digital experiences, and legacy systems. As we continue to modernize our technology ecosystem and deliver exceptional customer experiences, you will play a key leadership role in shaping technology direction, driving solution excellence, and enabling the successful delivery of complex initiatives.

As we continue to modernize our technology ecosystem and deliver exceptional customer experiences, you will play a key leadership role in shaping technology direction, driving solution excellence, and enabling the successful delivery of complex initiatives.
What You Will Do:
- Partner with business, product, technology, and Enterprise Architecture teams to translate business capabilities and requirements into scalable technology solutions.
- Develop end-to-end solution architectures across applications, integrations, data, infrastructure, and security domains.
- Create and maintain technology roadmaps aligned with business strategy, modernization objectives, and enterprise standards.
- Guide delivery teams through architectural decisions and ensure solutions align with target state architectures.
- Evaluate technologies, platforms, and vendors to support strategic initiatives and modernization efforts.
- Identify technical risks, dependencies, and architectural gaps, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Support cloud adoption, application modernization, and legacy system transformation initiatives.
- Develop and review solution designs to ensure quality, scalability, security, maintainability, and operational readiness.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and architectural guidance to developers, analysts, and engineering teams.
- Present solution recommendations, trade-offs, and architectural decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership.
- In partnership with our Enterprise Architecture team, participate in architecture governance processes, including architecture reviews, design reviews, and technology assessments.
- Foster collaboration across delivery teams, vendors, and stakeholders to drive alignment and successful outcomes.
- 5+ years of experience in Solution Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, or related architecture roles within large enterprise environments.
- 5+ years of progressive technology experience across application development, integration, cloud technologies, data platforms, or enterprise systems.
- Proven experience designing and delivering complex enterprise solutions spanning multiple technology domains.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS and Microsoft Azure
- Experience designing API-first integrations, event-driven architectures, and distributed systems.
- Experience working with both modern and legacy technology platforms within a modernization environment.
- Strong understanding of architecture disciplines including application, integration, security, data, and infrastructure architecture.
- Ability to balance strategic architectural direction with practical delivery considerations.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence technical and business stakeholders without direct authority.
- Experience in insurance, financial services, wealth management, or other highly regulated industries.
- Experience supporting customer-facing digital platforms and experiences.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise integration patterns, including APIs, messaging, event-driven architectures, and microservices.
- Experience supporting large-scale modernization, migration, and legacy decommissioning initiatives.
- Experience with data architecture, data governance, and analytics platforms.
- Experience leading proof-of-concepts, vendor assessments, and technology evaluations.
- Experience working with outsourced development teams and technology vendors.
- Knowledge of modern security, identity, authentication, and authorization frameworks.
- Experience developing target state architectures, capability maps, and technology roadmaps.
