Position Overview

We are currently looking for an experienced Concrete Line Pump Operator/Concrete Finisher to operate out of our Rolling Mix Concrete West End Plant. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety focused and committed to quality workmanship. This position is primarily responsible for delivering ready-mix concrete and other associated products to construction jobsites and residential areas. Operators may be called upon to work overtime as business and weather conditions warrant.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate and maintain line pump equipment
  • Place, spread and finish concrete to required specifications
  • Inspect the truck including checking fluids such as oil and antifreeze before starting in the morning in accordance with pre-trip inspection reports
  • Fill truck with water by placing rubber hose in tank and prepare drum for concrete
  • Receive delivery tickets
  • Add fibers or other products as directed
  • Check slumps and mix of concrete
  • Drive truck in safe manner to jobs arriving with desired slump
  • Backup or pulls into jobsites. Must be able to maneuver truck in uneven and poor terrain
  • Lay and connect line pump hoses
  • Unloads concrete in courteous manner
  • Gets tickets signed and assures they have all jobsite information that is needed
  • Washes truck with hoses and brush in designated area per contractors
  • Completes all paperwork in a timely fashion
  • Refuels truck every evening and performs walk around post inspection
  • Participates in company safety initiatives and acts as a safety ambassador for RMC while on client job sites
  • May be called on to perform other tasks as decided by supervisors, including assisting the boom pump team.

Qualifications

  • Valid class 5 drivers license with air brake endorsement and clean drivers abstract
  • Previous experience as a Concrete Line Pump Operator or a concrete finisher is an asset
  • Knowledge of finishing tools, equipment, and methods
  • Ability to work long hours, overtime, and weekends
  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors year round
  • Able to lift 50 lbs unassisted on a regular basis

Hours of work

Schedules are dictated by customer demand, so start and end times each day may be dependent upon the jobs for that day. Drivers typically work long days and must be capable of working overtime and weekends when required.

Work Environment

This position is a field position, involving travel between jobsites and our plant.

PPE is required, including CSA certified steel toed boots.

Applicants will be required to undergo pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as part of the hiring process.
