Missions/Main Duties

The System Interface Engineer is responsible for coordinating the management of internal interfaces across the project and ensuring that interface activities are planned, tracked, recorded, documented, and progressed in accordance with the Internal Interface Management Procedure.

The Detailed Responsibilities Include

• Lead the coordination of internal interface activities across the project in alignment with workstream priorities and delivery milestones.
• Own and maintain the Internal Interface Register, ensuring the quality, completeness, traceability, and reporting of interface data, responsibilities, actions, decisions, risks, and status across the interface lifecycle.
• Support the identification, assessment, and structuring of internal interfaces by working collaboratively with systems, design, and operational teams to clarify scope, boundaries, dependencies, criticality, and required interface deliverables.
• Facilitate collaboration and technical dialogue between interfacing parties and design teams by organizing interface meetings and workshops, supporting information exchange, and helping contributors reach alignment on cross-system issues.
• Ensure compliance with the Internal Interface Management Procedure and support the quality and timely progression of interface deliverables, including Internal Interface Specifications.
• Support the integration of interface information with system architecture, requirements management, change control, and MBSE-related activities, ensuring internal interface data is structured, consistent, and usable across engineering artefacts.
  
  

Profile/Skills

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Professional engineering designation or eligibility for registration.
• Additional training or certification in systems engineering, interface management, or project delivery would be considered an asset.
  
  

Years of experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in systems engineering, interface management, design coordination, technical project integration, or a related role in a complex multidisciplinary environment.

Technical Competencies

• Good understanding of systems engineering principles and lifecycle processes, especially in relation to system definition, requirements management, coordination of technical interfaces, and configuration-controlled documentation.
• Detailed knowledge of at least two railway system interfaces which will allow to identify gaps, challenge and contribute to the Interface documentation being produced by the SMEs.
• Familiarity with systems engineering standards and frameworks such as ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288.
• Understanding of system architecture concepts, system boundaries, functional and physical interfaces, and system decomposition.
• Familiarity with MBSE principles and systems modelling approaches; experience with related tools would be an asset.
• Ability to apply structured and methodical engineering practices to support technical coordination, documentation consistency, and cross-functional alignment
• Clear verbal and written communication skills, both in French and in English*
