Job Summary

We’re hiring for an assistant controller. The ideal candidate for our team will be interested in learning quickly and collaborate with the controller and the local team. The assistant controller communicates financial data to internal and external contacts and agencies as required. You must have proven experience in financial management as well as experience carrying out a variety of accounting and finance tasks to ensure the financial health of the organization/company.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the Company’s accounting records and financial systems.
• Prepare and assist in review of journals and final GL balances including review of month end balance sheet reconciliations and control accounts.
• Supervise and review monthly bank reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
• Preparing lease payment schedules.
• Responsible of property taxes for multiple locations.
• Ensure compliance with government remittances including GST, HST and PST.
• Support month-end and year-end close process.
• Review and update, in line with good practice, the Company’s internal control environment and produce a Controls and Procedures manual for review and adoption by management
• Support the Corporate Controller in financial reporting and performance measurement tasks.
• Carry out any further tasks for which your qualifications & experience are suited as directed by the Company
• Assist in the supervision of AP department and vendor payments.
• Implementation of a change management culture by challenging & replacing established processes and procedures where necessary
• Liaise with different departments to ensure the Finance department is properly supporting the needs of the operating businesses.
• Assist the Corporate Controller in executing different tasks.
  
  

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in an accounting finance role
• CPA designation is a plus, but not required.
• Highly organized and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Knowledge of SAP an asset
• Detailed oriented with strong accounting and finance skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Good communication skills (French & English)
• Frequent interaction with the finance team in the USA.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Focused on teamwork and collaboration.
