The Role
VCIM is seeking a full-time, permanent Associate Portfolio Manager to join our integrated investment management team. Working collaboratively with the VCIM Investment Committee and reporting to the Portfolio Manager – Equities, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of equity mandates in accordance with VCIM’s Responsible Investment approach.

The base salary for the role is $110,000 plus bonus. The upper half of the salary range is typically reserved for individuals who have demonstrated consistent strong performance in the role and possess a high level of job knowledge and skill.

The Role
VCIM is seeking a full-time, permanent Associate Portfolio Manager to join our integrated investment management team. Working collaboratively with the VCIM Investment Committee and reporting to the Portfolio Manager – Equities, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of equity mandates in accordance with VCIM’s Responsible Investment approach.
A Typical Day Would Involve
- Conducting fundamental research across equity sectors to contribute well formulated investment recommendations to optimize portfolio performance and manage risk.
- Maintaining a key role in the portfolio construction of VCIM mandates in accordance with investment policy guidelines and VCIM investment strategy objectives.
- Adhering to a disciplined and integrated investment decision making process that seamlessly incorporates bottom up, fundamental analysis with ESG analysis.
- Actively participating in business development, marketing activities and presentations supporting growth of the firm.
- Analytical – proficient in breaking down complex information and identifying key points for consideration.
- Passionate – about investing and enjoy working in a dynamic learning environment.
- Five to ten years of related investment management experience, ideally in a team-oriented structure of an investment management firm.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental, social and governance factors.
- A demonstrated aptitude to apply a growth oriented, reasonably priced style with a longer-term investment focus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a desire to work in a team environment dedicated to responsible investing.
- Demonstrative ability to research, develop and effectively communicate a detailed investment thesis.
- Qualified for registration as an Advising Representative (Portfolio Manager) with applicable provincial securities commission.
- A CFA charterholder.
- Passionate about investing and working in an environment of constant learning.
