About This Opportunity:
Shermco is currently seeking a Breaker Shop Technician to support operations within our Saskatchewan team. This hands-on role involves servicing, repairing, and remanufacturing low, medium, and high-voltage electrical apparatus and breakers in a shop environment. The ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and eager to develop technical expertise through on-the-job training.

This hands-on role involves servicing, repairing, and remanufacturing low, medium, and high-voltage electrical apparatus and breakers in a shop environment. The ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and eager to develop technical expertise through on-the-job training.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Overhaul, retrofit, rebuild, remanufacture, service, troubleshoot, and test a wide variety of low, medium, and high-voltage electrical equipment, including:
- Circuit breakers (e.g., GE, Westinghouse, Powell, ABB, ITE, Eaton, etc.)
- Switchgear and electrical panels
- Motor control centers (MCCs), contactors, and associated apparatus
- Disassemble and assemble components in accordance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards
- Conduct inspections and diagnostics to identify faults or performance issues
- Perform repairs using appropriate tools, testing equipment, and technical documentation
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, parts used, and equipment status
- Support general housekeeping and organization of the breaker shop, including inventory control and workspace maintenance
- Participate in training and hands-on learning to enhance skills and technical knowledge
- Ensure all work meets required quality, safety, and compliance standards
Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certification is an asset
- Mechanical or electrical background preferred; experience in electrical apparatus service a plus
- Familiarity with low, medium, and high-voltage systems considered an advantage
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, manuals, and schematics
- Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and mechanical aptitude
- Willingness to learn and perform duties to a high level of competency
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in an industrial shop environment
- Strong work ethic, team orientation, and commitment to safety
- Must be eligible to work in Canada
- Valid driver’s license preferred
