Job Description

Job Summary:

The Clinical Therapist – School Based is an integral part of a busy, dynamic and growing clinical program at Kinark Child and Family Services, Community Based Child and Youth Mental Health program in the Simcoe region. As a member of an interdisciplinary team, the Clinical Therapist –School Based will be required to liaise with internal and external collaterals in the provision of clinical services. The Clinical Therapist – School Based will be responsible for completing comprehensive clinical assessments, formulate and develop individualized treatment plans prior to providing individual, family, and/or group therapy to high risk and complex children, youth, and families within an office-based, as well as a community-based setting, specifically in schools, as required. The successful candidate will be required to work a minimum of two evenings per week based on client needs.

The Clinical Therapist – School Based position is covered by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union. Internal candidates will be considered first.

This role (Clinical Therapist –School Based) is assessed as a Roamer position requiring 3 days in the office/schools per week, inclusive of school sites. This position is also eligible for a Compressed Work Week.

The hourly wage levels for this position are $39.01 - $42.82. Annual salary range of $70,998.20 - $77,932.40.

Duties & Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Complete an initial comprehensive assessment, considering the multiple layers and interacting mental health issues, needs, and disorders, concurrent substance use issues,


and medical conditions.

  • Conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans.
  • Complete a comprehensive formulation and treatment plan as a foundation for treatment, integrating input from interdisciplinary team members and collateral sources.
  • Provide evidenced-based interventions to both youth and families, monitoring outcomes for treatment effectiveness and modifying treatment activities as needed.
  • Individual and Group treatment to be provided both in office and in community schoolbased settings inclusive of a minimum of 2 evenings per week based on client and program


needs.

  • Liaise with school administration/personnel in addition to client families and community service providers as required in treatment planning.
  • Participate in full model DBT (or other evidenced-based interventions such as CBT) inclusive of phone coaching to both youth and families.
  • Actively participate in Competency-Based Clinical Supervision model.
  • Complete all documentation as required and in compliance with agency policy/procedures and College standards.


Qualifications:

  • A Master’s Degree in Social Work or a Master's Degree in a Health-Related Discipline (e.g. Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology).**
  • Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related degree, or an extensive work experience in the field/discipline will also be considered.
  • Must be registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) as a Social Worker, or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
  • A minimum of 3 years relevant experience working in a mental health setting, is required. Direct experience working with school boards will be considered an asset.
  • Excellent clinical assessment, formulation and treatment planning skills.
  • Experience delivering full model DBT is preferred; at minimum, training and experience in delivering CBT and/or Behavioural models is considered an asset.
  • Experience with providing a broad range of clinical services and demonstrated effective work with a child and adolescent population who present a variety of clinically challenging


issues.

  • Computer competency is required for this position.
  • Experience working with diverse cultures is considered an asset for this position.
  • Travel is required for this position (across Simcoe County); the successful candidate must have a valid Ontario driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle and be willing to obtain automobile insurance which includes driving for business purposes with a minimum liability of one million dollars.
