About the Opportunity:
We are seeking a skilled Cloud Engineer with expertise in AWS and Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) to help design, implement, and manage our cloud infrastructure. This role will focus on building scalable, secure, and highly available containerized workloads while ensuring automation, security, and performance best practices.
As a key member of our Cloud Engineering team, you will work closely with DevOps, Security, and Software Engineering teams to optimize our AWS-based Kubernetes environment.
Responsibilities:
- Design and Implementation
- Design and deploy cloud-based systems and architectures with a focus on EKS based workloads
- Implement and manage Kubernetes clusters, including networking, security, and scaling strategies
- Optimize Kubernetes workloads using tools like Karpenter and HPA/VPA
- Plan and execute cloud migrations and deployments
- Configure and optimize cloud resources, including compute, database, storage, and networks
- Management, Monitoring, and Maintenance
- Monitor and maintain cloud infrastructure and services
- Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure related issues
- Ensure the security and availability of cloud resources
- Develop health and performance dashboards in Datadog and Grafana
- Maintain, update, and test, the AWS disaster recovery plan and tooling as required, to ensure adherence to RPO & RTO values
- Ensure compliance with AWS Well-Architected Framework and security standards
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- Computer Technology Diploma or bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
- 3-5+ years of experience in could or cloud related roles
- 5+ years of technical expertise with the following in an enterprise environment (identity management, storage, application hosting, containers, Infrastructure-as-Code scripting, performance monitoring)
- Experience with AWS Services, particularly, EKS, EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS Aurora, and Lambda
- Experience with CI/CD and IaC practices (Terraform, CloudFormation, Helm, Ansible, Jenkins, etc.)
- Proficiency in containerization tools and understanding of Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with security best practices (Security Hub, RBAC, AWS IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager)
- Familiarity with service meshes and Kubernetes Ingress Controllers (AWS ALB, Nginx)
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Go, or Bash)
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, rapid growth environment
Nice to Have Qualification:
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or equivalent
- Knowledge of web services, API, REST, and RPC
- Experience with Datadog, Bamboo/Bitbucket, Ubuntu Server 20.04, VMware vSphere, on-premises hosting experience (servers & networking), web application hosting/knowledge, Azure knowledge & experience, GCP knowledge and experience
- Experience with services and tools (Cloudflare, Wiz, Rapid7 InsightCloudSec, etc.)
