Overview Of The Role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Data Governance Lead to establish and oversee our client's enterprise-wide data governance framework. This hybrid role, based in Fredericton, NB, offers a blend of onsite collaboration and remote flexibility. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring data quality, integrity, security, and compliance across the organization. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, the Data Governance Lead will implement data policies, standards, and practices that align with our strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING IN THE ROLE:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Establish data governance policies, standards, and procedures to manage data assets effectively.
  • Monitor and enhance data quality by implementing data validation, cleansing, and profiling processes.
  • Develop metrics and KPIs to assess data quality and governance effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Identify and mitigate data-related risks in collaboration with legal, compliance, and IT teams.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of metadata repositories and data dictionaries.
  • Implement master data management practices to ensure consistency and accuracy of key data entities.
  • Communicate progress and challenges to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Adjust strategies and practices based on feedback and evolving organizational needs.

WHAT SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS YOU’LL NEED TO DO THE JOB:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in either Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science or related field.
  • Over 6 years of experience in information management or related disciplines and 5 years of experience in supervisory or leadership roles.
  • Proven expertise in cleansing and standardizing complex and large datasets from legacy sources.
  • Extensive experience with large-scale SDLC projects involving multiple iteration, concurrent releases, and diverse work streams.
  • Experience in data management, information lifecycle management, and implementation of data standards.
  • Strong background in Master Data Management (MDM) implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply data governance practices and maintain data protection compliance.
  • Strong knowledge in Records and Information Management.
  • Experience driving significant business transformation using cloud Saas implementation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions. Human Resources, Finance and/or procurement fields are preferred.
