Job Description

In a world of possibilities, pursue one with endless opportunities. Imagine Next!

At Parsons, we believe that if you can imagine it, you can do it. Imagine working with a team of intelligent, diverse professionals who share a passion for shaping the future of infrastructure. Imagine a workplace where your voice matters, where you can thrive and grow. We’ve got what you’re looking for.

Ready to put your civil design skills to work on high-profile infrastructure projects that impact communities across Canada? Would you enjoy working closely with engineers, other designers, and technicians to deliver well-coordinated designs? Parsons is expanding its footprint in Western Canada, and we are looking for a Civil Designer/Drafter to join our team in West Canada – Burnaby/Calgery. You’ll contribute to innovative, practical solutions on a variety of municipal and transportation infrastructure projects across the region.

We are looking for someone with a solid background in civil design—roadways, site grading, drainage systems, and utilities. A strong work ethic, problem-solving mindset, and a collaborative attitude are essential for success in this role.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Utilize AutoCAD and Civil 3D to develop detailed civil design drawings for infrastructure projects, including roads, intersections, grading plans, utility layouts, and drainage systems.
  • Interpret engineering markups and technical requirements into accurate and complete drawings.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable design standards, client specifications, and company procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other designers to coordinate design activities across disciplines.
  • Prepare plan/profile sheets, cross sections, surfaces, corridors, and quantity takeoffs.
  • Review supplier data and perform quality checks on drawings for accuracy and consistency.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior staff and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in design reviews and help resolve design-related challenges proactively.
  • This description of responsibilities is not a comprehensive listing of what may be required from the employee. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time.

What Required Skills You'll Bring

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited technical institute (or equivalent Canadian education).
  • 4+ years of experience in civil drafting/design with a focus on roads, grading, utilities, or transportation infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D is required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Adobe, and/or Bluebeam.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring

  • Familiarity with MicroStation and/or open road is an asset.
  • Understanding of municipal standards and QA/QC processes.
