What is an Engineering Manager?

The Engineering Manager will manage the Engineering Department to ensure that all Enervac standard and custom engineered products meet customer requirements and the minimum Company standards. Ensure that the proper systems are in place and fully implemented to achieve maximum accuracy and efficiency within the department.


What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Ten years engineering work experience in related industry, a minimum of five years on a CAD system, and three years supervisory or management experience.


Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Manage the planning, activities, prioritization, and production of the Engineering Department.
  2. Hands on leadership role with involvement in equipment testing and troubleshooting.
  3. Review, evaluate, consolidate, and implement systems used to process customer orders.
  4. Manage documentation preparation and drawing submittals as required by the customer, including all O&M manuals.
  5. Design and create detailed manufacturing drawings and bills of material to manufacture all Enervac equipment, including the choice of proper components for optimal performance, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
  6. Create all required drawings, bills of material, and all other technical documentation timely and accurately.
  7. Provide technical, installation, and trouble-shooting consultation for internal departments.
  8. Participate in customer design reviews and equipment FAT inspections in collaboration with the sales team.
  9. Provide and schedule training for all engineers within the Engineering Department to ensure continuous improvement and thorough knowledge of all required disciplines related to the design, engineering, and assembly of oil & SF6 purification equipment.
  10. Prepare periodic reports tracking department activities, costs, and other management information.
  11. Implement revisions and issue new end items within the structure of the quality system and its address of controlled documents.
  12. Evaluate and recommend improvements to systems and procedures to improve department efficiency, and monitor employee performance. \
  13. Contribute to the monthly sales and/or manufacturing forecasts, operational reports, and monitor operational targets.
  14. Manage human resource activities within the area of accountability, to include staffing, performance management, salary administration, and other related activities.
  15. Interact and communicate with all levels of employees within the Company, as well as suppliers, customers and peers effectively.
  16. Comply with policies, procedures, standards and rules of the Company.
  17. Maintain work area in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
  18. Punctual, regular and consistent attendance.
  19. Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.


Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree required. Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Highly proficient in SolidWorks including management of PDM library
  • Experience managing ERP system data including BOM and Work Order processes.
  • 3+ years engineering experience in equipment design
  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
  • P.Eng qualification is an asset.


Physical and Technical Environment

  • Must regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds, using proper lifting techniques or other available resources such as lifting or moving equipment or help from another employee.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, bend and stoop in a normal office environment.
  • Regularly required to walk or stand, bend or twist, climb, reach with hands or arms.
  • Normal vision and manual dexterity for office duties.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, heat and cold on a regular basis.
  • Separate exposure to machine and tool hazards requiring care and attention to safety rules and standards.
